Fair Gypsy Girl
An Irish man
 From the banks of Gilban
 Came a walkin’ though town.

 A maid so fair
 Made him stop and stare
 As she passed him by.

 “Who is she
 So sweet and free
 That last passed me by?”
He asked a stranger near by
 Who was passing by
“Who is she with the raven hair?”

 He turned to him
 His face so grim
 “She is a gypsy girl.”

 Some gypsies are fair
 Some gypsies are fine
 I won’t take anyone else
This fair gypsy girl is mine.

 No name he got
 But no treasure he sought,
More than the love of her.

 To the gypsy fair
 He surrendered there
And his roving days were done.

 Some gypsies are fair
 Some gypsies are fine
 I won’t take anyone else
This fair gypsy girl is mine.
