Smile
Sm-EYE-el!
I sing it out,
Laughing as I go,
My voice raised an octave.
Your eyes meet mine.
I can smell the rain
Of your gloomy day.
Your smile hides,
Your eyes dodge mine.
I laugh.
Sing it out again.
I take your hands,
And swing them as I dance.
Sm-EYE-el!
Then I see the you I love.
Your smile comes out of hiding,
I watch it grow big and wide.
Your eyes shine
As you laugh at me.
You smile.
I wrap you up in a hug,
We rock side to side,
And almost fall… but don’t.
And then I let you go,
And watch you walk away,
Smile still in place.
