Can't Hold It In
I am a writer of smiles and clichés.
Words flow like honey.
Slowly but surely
Dripping onto the page.
Painted fire within the syllables.
I put my heart on the line,
Serenading you with poetry and lies,
For entertainment,
And release from the pressure of unwritten words.
I’m using the key
And unlocking my mind,
Letting this inaudible melody
Whisper out though the tips of my fingers.
I come with an air of love songs and raindrops,
But broken pencils and torn paper trail in my wake.
The phrases I use are mismatched and contradictory,
But they are my mind’s offspring.
I can’t take them back,
Nor can I hold them in.
