Old Clothing in the Earth
It’s only his old suit,
She said,
He’s found a new one by now.
I wonder where the new suit is,
What language it’s being taught to speak.
How old?
A boy or a girl?
Well I remember only the old suit.
It’s the only memory I can grasp.
The person inside the suit,
Perhaps I didn’t know that well.
Too late now.
So I stand and cry and mourn that the old suit is gone.
I’ll probably never see the new suit,
And I probably won’t recognize it if I did.
So far away.
For now,
Good night.
