Flight
A whisper through the dead of night
A breaking heart too hurt to fight
Searching for her fallen knight
Who’s lost upon this dusty road
On her heart his love’s bestowed
And on and on her heart still glowed
But now her debt to him is owed
But he’s asking more than she can give
Her breaking heart is pensive
Should it with him die, or alone live
If she stays could her heart forgive
What has caused it now to break
Was this love a bound mistake
Cursed to end in such heartache
Will her knight be here when she wakes
Or another lady has he found
One who wears a brighter crown
Who stands on more familiar ground
Whose thoughts he doesn’t find profound
One to walk the dusty road with him
The first lady’s heart is growing dim
She’s drowning but too hurt to swim
Her whisper in the night is grim
Her final chance for flight…
