Favorite Quote:
"Look inside yourself to save yourself from your other self. Only then will your true self reveal itself."

Sunlight, diffused by silver clouds,
Sporadically drips down into the sea.
Wind, damp and chilly from rising mist,
Steadily flows around me.

Waves, stained from the clouds
With a silvery hue,
Crash onto the sand,
Painting it, too.

Grass, green and gold in the sun,
Swishes in the wind.
Shells, smooth and worn by the water,
Sit embedded in the sand.

A lighthouse,
Tall and imposing,
Stands along the edge
Of a vast sea of sand.

A path of footprints leads to
A swinging, wooden bench.
I sit with a friend,
Feeling the lack of sleep
Catching up with me.

Back and forth, like a pendulum.
I glance up
And find what I have settled into:
A gray haven.

I wrote this poem after going to a beach near Savannah, Georgia. While sitting there, I felt calm, like I was in a bubble of peace. The beach was gray, and the water was cold, but it was nice.
