Anna Mannequin
She smiles as
The mold cracks
And shatters beneath
Her feet
Satin pink laces
Tie up to her knees
She balances on her toes
And dances
She looks in the mirror
The first time in ages
Gray skin, hollow eyes
She's beautiful
Hands hold her heart
It's barely beating
And shall remain
Forever broken
Lungs expand and shrink
In short, calm breaths
Her eyes close and
She remembers
Black hair and blue eyes
Such a beautiful boy
He lit her world
On fire
All of that changed
Black eyes, swollen lips
She couldn't leave
She couldn't
She awoke from the nightmare
Dance shoes on the floor
She grabbed her bag
And ran
Green eyes squint
In the midday's sun
Lungs fill with air
She's free
