Tomorrow Night
Let’s pretend tomorrow night never happened.
That never you took my hand and wouldn’t let go.
And led me to that place where we met long ago.
That we didn’t look into each other’s eyes,
And see something more than retinas—we saw each other’s souls.
Let’s pretend that tomorrow night never happened.
That we didn’t lie under the cool sheets,
Reveling in our body’s heat,
That we didn’t whisper above the noise of traffic,
That your hand didn’t sail through my hair like it was an ocean.
Let’s pretend that tomorrow night never happened.
Because today is still burning fiercely in the sky,
And if I think that it’s all over, I might cry.
Even though it hasn’t happened yet,
I want to be in love forever.
