Dancing Queen
The wind in the trees
Her body sways in the breeze
Arms up high reaching for the stars in the sky
The beat of the drums pulse in the ground
as she twirls round and round
Dancing like the ancients, secrets lost and found
Artemis watches the scene from up above, a lofty royalty
watching her spin and leap into eternity
But she dances in a crazed frenzy, like the beat of the drums are the sounds of finality
The grove stands tall and proud through the centuries
The only witnesses to her dance are the trees, time’s sentries
They watch her, silent and still as she moves like the bygone deities
Her feet takes flight like birds with wings
She is a fire in the dark night, but fades into time like dreams
Yet her story will forever echo for she is Helen, the Queen of Queens
