You sit all alone,
Hoping it’s a phase to pass.
Chilled to the bone,
You break a glass.

The clock ticks; audibly.
Your insides protest; angrily.
You stare sadly
At your knees.
As you crave for your life.
Yet, Death ignores your pleas.

Your time is coming,
Noiselessly approaching.
You swallow hard
Jump at the slightest sound
Wondering when you will
Hit the solid ground.

You curl your hands,
Into useless fists.
You bite your nails,
Because you know
Your name is next on the lists.

Your eyes grow wide
Your mouth is half open
Death silently follows your stride
Soon you will be all rotten

Your faces looses
Trace of all color
And you feel strangely alone
Everything is a perplexed blur
Because soon; you will be gone.

Your throat knows
It’s your last breath
You feel limp; head to toes
All but you welcome death.
You miserably wonder
If anyone will remember
Your day had approached
The calendar.

And Death is gesturing
Hoping you would fling
Yourself, into its arms
But you know better
Than to write Death a letter
Confirming your arrival
Because this one would not be a visit
But your final destination
Thus, you ignore it.

But it calls; it smiles gloatingly
You know you have no choice.
Yet you shout, you struggle, vainly.
And soon you loose your voice.
Death whispers words,
Devoid of a syllable
You stare at him; perplexed, baffled.
And suddenly, you find yourself stable.
Still, stationary and unmoving.

But inside, you are raging
Your eyes roll up
And your mind spins down
The fading memory lane.
And now you glance beneath Death’s gown
As he slips in a knife to cease the pain.

He pierces you
Once, twice, again
Too gruesome, nightmarish to be true.
Yet you loose feeling of all pain.

Blood spurts out.
And with one last, pleading shout.
One that echoes empty, alone
You slowly fade . . .
Until you are all gone.
