Airborne
Approaching the towering cliff
Mocking me with its simplicity
All you have to do is jump
It taunts
Standing at the top
Looking
Down,
Down,
Down
My pulse is racing
Beating at and audible decibel
Peer over once more
Step back
Running,
Running,
Running
JUMP
Propelled off the edge
With one push of a bare foot
Falling
Down,
Down,
Down
Time slows
Flying freely through space
Stomach flips, over and over
Lose my breath
Air is falling past
As I tumble down
Five
Four
Three
Two
One
SPLASH
Hit the water
It stings
Stains the soles of my feet red
Sinking
Down, down, down
Skin goose-bumps
Cold penetrates into my muscles
Dark closes over
Enveloped in dark wet
Shiver
Come up for air
Up,
Up,
Up
GASP
I conquered the cliff
A grin breaks through
I scramble up
The slippery slope
Eager for more
