To be an American

I am an American
And I am good at math
And I, the only English I know is all of it
Like how to order the 10-piece chicken nugget meal at MacDonalds
In the middle of town
I was born in Alaska
My parents were not
When WWII came along members of my family served our country
We fought to keep our belongings
Our belongings stayed
And we fought
The great “Land of the Free!”
