Left in My Mind
I never knew why
I left you there
in my mind,
because you've been stuck
for far too long.
Your eyes; your smile,
I picture it,
and I remember
how you first made me laugh.
Your charm had
me at first glance
and there was nothing I could do about it.
I never knew why
I left you in my mind,
because it was such a long time ago,
but the memory
remains,
and we never let it go.
Leaving you in my mind
was the wrong thing
to do,
because I remember when I just
sat and cried
you laughed and then just left me there.
A broken piece of me
hides in you somewhere,
I know that much is true.
And you're hiding in me, or else I wouldn't
have left you in my mind for so long; that's the heartfelt truth.
