Weary Eyes
I closed my eyes
and saw your face
staring back at mine.
The dimple
that I used to kiss
was there in all sublime.
Those twinkling eyes
that used to see
so deep into my soul,
were gazing down
at my lips
that you used to call your own.
As your mouth slowly curves,
I lean against your frame.
And with a breathy rush of air
you lean down to play the lover's game.
I stand still for an eternity,
hoping with great ardor that you'd materialize.
But with a sigh,
I resign,
and open my weary eyes.
