A Light Unattended
When I was little I would look up to you,
To my dad I would too,
And now, still I do.
Though when I was lost in night’s
Long lasting darkness, I
Would seek light and thus,
I found you.
Iridescent,
ever strong, everlasting
ever part of me.
Every day you spread your
Dove-like wings
Saving the world from the
Torment of night.
You, most precious of our treasures, yet
most ignored.
Most needed to guide us through the night.
Man is shamefully dull to sulk beneath you.
Once we fall,
And we always do,
Victim to self-induced pain
Formed only when we stare
To the shoes that we wear, and self-exalted
fame, We stare so grimly to what
We have wrought.
We have sown.
We have sought.
Why must we do so, when You have taught us
not?
Though strung up in the sky
For the whole of the world to see,
You belong to all of them
Yet they are blind towards things
Not believed.
