Ruby Tears

Ruby tears pull my heart out of my chest.
Heartless,
I am finally alive.
Carefree, living, laughing,
choking, crying
Walking an unfamiliar path,
every step is a drag
Dragging all these bags,
it’s hard to move forward.
Footprints creating a trail that my children will follow.
Signs read head up and smile bright.
I’ll follow the rules,
because that is all I know.
Yet, I’m carefree.
living,
laughing,
choking.
crying,
going with the flow.
