Whispers
I hear whispers about me,
I quickly turn around.
But all I see are many pairs of eyes,
And their smiles hiding behind their glossed mouths.
I walk up to my laughing friends,
And cheerfully say, "What's Up?"
But their cold "Nothing,"
Says something is wrong.
After school I call them up,
And ask about plans for Saturday
But all I get is another "I'm busy,"
And the dial tone taunting me.
I sit in my room and ask myself many questions
What did I do wrong? Did I make her mad?
Did I insult her? Why is this happening to me?
But the only answer I get,
Is the sound of my thoughts,
Spinning wildly in my head,
And the echoes of my quiet sobs.
