When They're Dead
We're told that life is beautiful,
Something truly wonderful.
We're expected to smile, each and every day,
And laugh our lives away,
Which is something simply impossible.
How can you expect me to,
When before I know it life is through?
Hopes and dreams cannot be fed,
When they're dead.
I see life's true colors.
As for all of the others,
It's easy to get into their head.
But I, I am not mislead.
I can smell the roses a whole lot better,
When they're dead.
