The familiar sensation overcomes me
Should I stay or should I flee?
The only sound that I can hear
It’s the sound of my heartbeat loud and clear
The tears are my silent plea
I raise my leg and hug my knee
Making myself as small as I can be
I can hear it now; I know you’re near
It’s the familiar sensation
I’m crouched in the corner, scared, can’t you see?
Just this time will you let me be?
I heard you coming; I know you’re here
My eyes close tight, can you sense my fear?
The sting, I can feel it, you hit me
It’s the familiar sensation
