Dream River

Underwater,
Things are brewing.
Laine, the Mermaid,
Laine, a Dream, herself,
Is brewing Dreams,
In her own likeness,
Hopeful, lovely,
Dreams.

All is peaceful,
The Dreams float,
Down with the current,
They make their way,
Into the night.
But, wait.
All is not peaceful,

Salvatrice, the Nightmare.
She waits, waits, waits.
She waits for the chance,
To strike!

Floating in the current,
She lies in wait,
Swallowing up Dreams,
Poisoning the water,
Laine’s efforts,
Wasted.

Laine is angry,
She yearns for Justice
She will fight,
Fight for the Dreams.

“Salvatrice,”
Laine confronts her foe.
“Salvatrice, you will fall.”
She fights the Nightmare,
Dark and Light,
Love and Hate,
Collide in the rushing water.
Laine fights for the Dreams,

Salvatrice, the Nightmare,
A creature born
Of Moonless Night.
Evil is in her blood,
In her brain,
Her heart.

Corruption, fear, darkness,
Her only goals,
And so she fights Laine,
The pure Dream.

Tail against tail,
Teeth, claws, screams.
One fights for Justice,
The other for Hate,

Laine is triumphing,
Then Salvatrice,
They are evenly matched,
But the pure of heart,
Prevails.

Salvatrice is no more,
She sinks to the bottom,
Of the river,
Never seen again.

Laine, the Mermaid,
Laine, the Dream,
Laine, the Pure of Heart,
Is brewing Dreams,
And Salvatrice,
Pollutes no more.

Very creative poem! I like the story line which follows so well through the entire poem, and the descriptive words you used. Keep up the great work!

I thought this was very well done and very interesting. The rythem was great and the content kept you reading right to the final line. Good job.
