Scars
A toxic friendship to most,
An addiction to the unfortunate.
A gateway into a self-inflicted hell,
A passage into a future of uncertainty.
Her hopelessly devoted friend,
She doesn't know if she wants to destroy you.
She loves your beautifully precise destruction.
But some people don’t understand why.
They think the opaque purple scars mean she’s weak.
Little do they know it is where her very strength comes from.
You’re her rock when she feels the urges again,
You let her know she’s made progress,
That she’s so much more than the pain she causes herself.
You've been there like guardian angels,
Guiding her hand in hand to recovery.
Every patch of discolored skin,
A look into a regretful past.
It may be a past of regret,
But those small scars,
Give a hopeful look,
Into her bright future.
