here.
where your lovers are still the trembling trees
who still remember shared candy kisses
where my laughter, you say, sounds like the sneeze
of my cat, who found your fish delicious
and the walls still smell like your splattered old tees
where everything was painted in wishes
where your strobe light eyes bring strong coffee notes
and lime zest melismas to write a song
where we waltz to raindrop blues and sailboats
drunkenly happy as the day is long
with twin violin hickeys on our throats
where your heart’s been kept safe all along
where your butterfly hands still know no fear
where I miss you; it’s been almost a year
where I don’t mind the piece that’s disappeared
where I will be waiting, waiting right here.
