A Poem for Ava Reese
Your small face snuggled sweetly into my arm,
I hold your small hand, so filled with charm.
You don't know my name, and neither my age.
You hear me speak these words off of a page.
You're only 5 months, barely a baby.
I love you so much, and maybe...just maybe...
I'll build you a castle, way back in time,
Send you a rocket, and sing you this rhyme.
I'll hold you tighter than any boy could.
I'll love you more than anyone should.
I'll keep your secrets, and whisper my own.
Please dear Ava, just know you're not alone.
I'll hold your hand when your getting your shots,
And bandage them up, I'll comb through the knots.
I know you're still little, but please read this soon.
Because my thoughts may just fly to the moon...
