I write these words so I can be heard
I write these words so I can be learned.
Pain in my mind Pain in my eyes.
Distraught with these thoughts I can't help but realize.
This is my time to stand up and shine
This is my time to get out of the line

I breathe in this oxygen
I cough and clear my throat
I fall to the dirt as I spit and choke
The world is trying to hold me back
Trying to keep me on their crack
As if I can't think for myself
The world is trying to think for me

Left in the dirt I stare to the skies
Suddenly the pain in my eyes
Washes away as I begin to now realize
Everything in life is of a great surprise.
I stop the spitting, I stop the choking
I breathe in this oxygen and I feel born again
I smile to these skies as I cry, I cry

These tears I shed are not because of what has been done
These tears I shed are not because my life seems worthless
These tears I shed are because these skies are gorgeous.

I spread my arms out, extended as if to fly
My smile grows wider and I laugh and I sigh
I fall backwards on to this dirt, my Mother Earth
With new thoughts and new feelings
New meanings and new beginnings
I am those skies, I am that gorgeous.
