Entwined
If I had saved you, yes soon, I would have saved you.
Had I been there before you jumped you would probably still be here.
The love you left with and the love you left behind still penetrates inside me.
But now you are gone forever, and I hold all the guilt.
You think you have been set free and relieved of the pain,
you think from my silence that my love has gone astray:
But my heart is the one heart that is still entwined with yours,
And mine is the embrace you’ll find yourself in when I pass away.

This poem was originally written for a poetry project in my creative writing class but I wanted to share it with the world. The style I have written it in is the style of another poem, "Bound" written by Aline Murray Kilmer (1888-1941) I had to chose a published author's poem so I chose this one cause I liked it the best and the assignment was that I had to write a creative response to the poem. So I chose to write my own poem in the style of "Bound."
