It matters not how straight the gate,
Nor how charged with punishment the scroll;
Veined my death shall not be
If of my fate I have control.
Certainly my head will stay held high;
Though chance does strive to weaken me,
Unconquerable, however, I will indefinitely survive,
So long as the years do not beat on me.

The author's comments:

I wrote this as a tribute to my favorite author: William Ernest Henley. This is an accrostic adaptation of his poem Invictus and I do not lay claim to the title nor the concept of the poem. This was simply done as a tribute, and nothing more.
