"We gain strength, and courage, and confidence by each experience in which we really stop to look fear in the face... we must do that which we think we cannot."
~ Eleanor Roosevelt ~

It hits you
You’re really here
No matter how far away you are
You’re still close enough
The moment has come
The curtains rise
Out he walks with cello in hand
He sits
His fingers glide up and down
It looks so easy and effortless
No stand
No music
No paper
Just memory
Playing that beautiful music
That flawless, perfect music
You close your eyes
And swear you’re listening to a recording
You open your eyes
Everyone is on the edge of their seat
Stretching their necks just a little farther
To see the man
With the cello
Playing the magnificent music
The hours fly by with a blink of your eye
Everyone stands
Hands come together
And clap
And clap
And clap
Your hands are sore
Your hands are red
But they keep coming together
Over
And over
And over
Again
Until he takes a seat one more time
The audience is silent
They wait
Once again the fingers glide
And the bow slides back and forth over the strings
Sadly it ends
The audience again in awe stands once more
To willingly clap all night
For the musician
With the cello
The talent
And the music in his head
