Light
My body is alive when the strikes arrive;
They light the ground beneath.
Pulsing through, I'm reaching out.
I stand and grit my teeth.
And while I stand, the sky demands
The world to watch it's wrath.
As all around me bathes in light,
I stumble along the path.
Roses without petals; the wind has settled,
And outer leaves are soaked.
And now the force is dying down,
I'm left, submerged in smoke.
We set the clocks and check the locks
When the darkness begins crowding.
Yet today I stand, immersed in rain;
I already feel like I'm drowning.
