I Asked...
I asked my father, don't you know
I was your little girl long ago?
I asked my boyfriend, can't you see
You were once in love with me?
I asked my brother, won't you do
  Everything what's best for you?
  I asked the Lord, why can't I
Just spread my wings and learn to fly?
I asked the world, won't you tell
Why some people go straight to hell?
I asked and asked, and realize this:
Your life isn't always a bliss
You need to know, how I feel
Because what's hiding out there is real
Tell the truth, o dying soul
Will you return what you stole?
I have the answers, loud and clear
That's why I am filled with fear
So it's your turn, ask away
For just a small token to pay
My questions aren't answered, but I ask no more
Time to knock on a different door
