The City
I fell for you on Merseyside streets,
As the cold night and flood lights
Took my breath away.
We walked through the crowds
And spilled drinks,
But all that mattered was that we were together.
And I threw my head back laughing at your silly jokes
But when you weren't looking,
I was staring at the light reflecting in your eyes.
And so many times we've come close to recreating that night but you're always too busy,
Even though it was one of the best nights of your life.
And all this time you are the only thing that's made sense,
But I can't help but wish you loved me like you love the city.
