The cobble-stone road underneath my
feet clicked with the harmonious
rapture of years gone past

The moon, floating overhead,
glowed with the incandescent lustre of a secret
lover's tryst. I remember I was dancing in

the rain, ocean's tears from a lonely catharsis.
It pelted on the velvety skin of my youth's lingering
embrace. I laughed at the sheer banality of the event

while you watched on with patience-worn eyes.
I didn't know you, but you offered me your umbrella, a shelter
under which I could hide my sweet virgin's blush.

I kindly said no while staring at the sly grin sketched on your alabaster facade. You leaned into the space occupying
you and I

sand coarse bristles dashed against the hollow of my cheek
a brief kiss flashed in the stagnant air of a starless night

and then you were gone
a figment of my waning imagination.
