Questions From a Lonely Dreamer
If we went wandering
Under the stars
And you noticed each time that
I had a new scar
And if at night, in the cold
We would all huddle close
And you’d hold my hands while I slept
So that I didn’t feel alone
Would my dreams
Stop starting with longing
and ending too soon?
Would I still hate waking up
if I could wake up to you?
If we were all warriors
Leading lives of purpose
And these dreams were reality
Instead of just wishes
And if I could fight, and be brave
And travel light
And if we had magic and swords
And the power to fly
Would my dreams
Stop mocking me for my
empty life?
Would I still hate love if it
didn’t leave me behind?
If we went off saving the world
Like in my favorite book
And you could read my mind
With a single look
And if at night, when I’m scared
Of the thoughts that I have
You would teach me to breathe again
And make me laugh
Would my dreams
Stop lying that you
don’t love me?
Would I still hate my life
if it wasn’t lonely?
