the rose
while cleaning the attic one night
she came upon a box,
a treasure chest
that held her memories and past thoughts
she opened the box
and there was the rose, sitting there on top
everything else was ripped and torn
but the rose was not
she thought back to that night
and remembered what he had said
he told her the rose was magical
and as long as it stayed red
their love would last forever
like the memories in her head
now looking at the rose,
she knew what he had said was tue
because she still loved him
and she knew he loved her too
