America, My Sweet Home
America, My Sweet Home
Something told them “No!” Someone said it wasn’t fair. Somewhere they stood up. Now their bravery paid off And fixed something we could never bear.
I’m proud to say “Yes!”
“This country is my home.”
The food, culture, and the rights
Make me not alone.
I wish that you could only see
The pride that’s in my eyes.
I love the flag that’s flying free
And the cheesy chili fries.
Past that you could find
My admiration for education.
Not the homework I’m assigned,
But the opportunity in our nation.
I’ll continue with our inventions-
Glasses, technology, and ovens galore.
You can find fresh ones at our conventions
Or even past our kitchen door!
This is my country,
A giant bowl of salad.
Past the things about it said bluntly,
There could still be more than one ballad.
What I mean is that America is a mix of things.
We have different religions,
Traditions,
Conditions,
Positions,
Physicians.
Maybe not that one,
But it’s what we got
And I’m happy with what it brings.
