The Light
A tunnel
 Long dark
 Narrow
 Pitch black
 I am
 disoriented

 I forget
 where I'm going
 I forget
 why I'm here

 Which way
 is forward
 Which way
 is backward
 I run into walls
 groping blindly

 Every so often
 the touch of a hand
 a soft word
 even a slow breath
 remind me I'm not alone

 We all stumble
 wander
 ramble blindly
 in the darkness

 But still
 we are together
 We fall and
 get back up
 But where
 are we going

 But suddenly
 a shout
 I am startled
 The shout is
 happy
 And then I see it
 A pinprick of light
 It appears beside me
 I am going
 the wrong way

 I right myself
 and move forward
 shouting singing
groping for a hand to grasp
 a person to embrace

 Now we see the light
 and we will make it
 No matter how far
 or how long it takes

 We are together
 and we know where
 we are going
 And we will get there
