The Best, The Worst
My breath comes in long sighs
 My pulse in dull thuds
My thoughts in broken strains of mournful piano and guitar

 Guess what I'm thinking about
 You
 Like always
 Do you know why?

 Because you have given me
 The best
 The worst gift
 You have to give

 You have given me hope

Because I think I might have a chance
Because there might be some part of you that sees me
Because you might really be looking

 But I can't know
 But I can't deny
 So for the best
 For the worst
 I hope

And the bittersweet hope clogs my throat
And the bittersweet tears soak my face
And the bittersweet rain floods my soul

 Maybe
 tomorrow.
