Star
You’re like a star
 Shining outside my bedroom window

I wish on you every night
Though I should have stopped wishing on you
The four hundred and forty-fourth time
 My wish didn’t come true

 When I need a muse
I need only to look at you
 Your brilliance has inspired
 Countless poems and songs
 Not to mention fantasies

 You invade my dreams
And keep guard over my nights
And even when I don’t see you
 You’re there

Some nights you seem close enough to touch
To bottle up your light and sell it
 As the key to immortality

 You’re my constant
 My inspiration
 My safety
 My hope

 But
 You’re a star
 And you’re totally
 Completely
 Untouchable
