Bluejay
Loud and proud he use to be
While sitting with his family
He could catch the wind with one hand
And give it the courage to stand
Than the dragon came
And had to fill our house with so much pain
It was jealous of his laugh
And how his strength would forever last
But he will return to us blue as day
And the pain will slowly fade away
He will spread his wings and take flight
And watch over us day and night
While he once again builds his home
He will let us know that we are not alone
He sings his laugh again as he waits
And watches us until we can meet him at the gates

I wrote this peice for a school assignment. My great grandpa was the on who inspired me for this poem. before he died of cancer, i remember how it seamed to me at the time that whenever i was around him i could always see or hear a bluejay nearby. With this poem I hope that I can connect to the hearts of others who have also lost someone that they loved from cancer and show them that they are not alone.
