I stand upon my castle gold
I stand upon my castle gold,
Boundlessly filled with stories untold.
With Knights and princesses and dragons galore,
And serpents and mermaids washing upon the castle’s shore.
I watch as the walls and masonry crumble,
Down and down my gold walls tumble.
The water quickly recedes from the coast,
As the rooms and tapestries burn to toast.
On and on I see the evil army march,
With ties and suitcases and collars of starch.
Phone to ear and pen in hand,
The evil army invades my land.
If you can’t beat them, join them, the saying goes.
I tell myself donning their clothes.
I stand back to the rubble with a sad frown,
However, I still hold in my pocket my old crown.
