The sky got red and swollen, I guess we never see the signs
There can't be songs for every soldier, there can't be solace everytime you cry
-Dermot Kennedy

The night seems so thick here,

Like bars of a cage.

The winter still looms near,

Warmth never breaks way

But what is that on the morning?

None but the glimpse of a sun!

Now I can run to it's roaring,

Blissfully free from this gun.

Smile in sunlight near burning.

Green are the fields in return.

How blessed this freedom I'm learning,

No longer bound to death's word.

Oh, but the sun is soon sinking.

Soon, the last summer will pass.

Then back to pain not relieving.

Seems as if Autumn won't last.

The author's comments:

Vivaldi is a 4 stanza ballad written to mimic the seasons, in an attempt to contrast them with depression, and the cycle they both follow.
