The Way the Stars Just Melt Away
Look up and see
A lovely sky.
The clouds are gone;
The sun shines high.
But soon will come
The evening time.
When sun to rest
And darkness climb.
That’s when stars fly
Into their place
They shove and push
And fight with grace.
After they reach
A decent spot,
They twinkle bright
And grow real hot.
Beaming more still,
They’re brilliant.
All night they are
Resilient.
But after all
Have had great fun,
They begin to
Think of the sun.
And then magic
Works restlessly;
And brings the light
Excitedly.
But no, alas!
It’s terrible.
Sit with the sun?
Unbearable!
No star has stayed,
Or ever should,
With the daylight;
Not like they could.
As soon as he
Comes into sight,
They start to fade
And gone is night.
It’s shocking how
Quickly it’s done.
They disappear;
They up and run.
Nothing could make
Them stay to meet
The brightest star,
They just retreat.
It’s heavenly
To watch, I’d say.
The way the stars
Just melt away.
