" If people never did silly things, nothing intelligent would ever get done."
--Ludwig Wittgenstein

Rain fell that night
a light, drizzling rain
There was a type of peace
that I couldn't explain

The parents I hated
were no longer here
Then shouldn't I be happy
and ready to cheer?

I hated them so much
They caused me endless grief
But how come nothing feels right
and I don't sense relief

That night I sat there
pondering what's wrong
and asking myself,
is this where i belong?

And then the fake smile
turned to a frown
and i could see tears,
trickling down

My parents, now
I don't hate them anymore
and i suddenly recall
the smiles they once wore

Their annoyance seemed
to have disappeared
and being alone
is now what I fear

But it was too late
They won't return,
and this is the truth
I now have to learn

This poem is to reflect on how we would feel if the parents we take for granted aren't here anymore.

The truth is that at some point, everyone's going to hurt you. You just have to decide who's worth the pain.

Some say having something to lose is what makes you vulnerable. I believe that having something to lose only makes you stronger.

Wow, this is fantastic! Your poem flowed seamlessly together and your message leaped out from the page- so sad and sweet, but making me think :)
