Taking Cover
Spinning with my arms out beside me,
playing hide and seek, come and find me,
Rolling down a hill, leaves in my hair,
Playing with a friend who really isn't there,
Laughing so hard I started crying,
Telling so much truth, i thought i must be lying,
Eyes so bright they shined like stars,
The first time I got across the monkey bars
Running with scissors to get my thrill,
Drinking from the hose to get my fill.
Eyes stayed closed to get a better look,
I played so hard that my muscles shook.
I would not walk, I skipped so high,
Because i felt like I could fly,
I ran towards everything I saw,
Every emotion was so raw,
I will believe in this if I can,
I want it back the way it began,
The heart of a child who knows no lies,
Back when I had that sparkle in my eyes.
Come back to me my childhood lover,
Happiness, where have you taken cover?
