Even Shadows Have Shadows
Mirror mirror upon the wall
 Show me; who is the wisest of them all?
 He who dreams big and tall?
 Or is it he who does not care at all?

 Tell me, mirror, I do not know
 Do good things truly come to those who wait?
 Is it best to just reap what others sow?
 Or to try and change your interminable fate?

 I’m weary of asking these things
 Why do possibilities in our heads repeat?
 why worry with what futures bring
 if, mirror, at the same end all paths meet?

 One final question for you, mirror
 I wish you’d answer me this--if you please
 Something I wish you’d make clearer;
 why are we all a phone call from our knees?
