I haven't seen you since Junior High

Since Fiji water and chalkboard goodbyes

I liked you, but some other girl was cool

Then you asked me out on the last day of school

So summer started until August's end

But you were gone and high school began

Sometimes you drove up and waited at the gate

I'm just not the type of fish to dive for the bait

Then, back into my life with the gunning of your engine

Do you want a ride home and where have you been

Like Cinderella, I hop up into the stagecoach

Okay, a black Altima, don't crush my dream- it's not a roach

He gets out for a minute and I should just walk home

But he says hold up... Me? Him? Alone?

So he's back and he's smiling and laughing in my ear

I'm imagining it's because he likes to know that I am near

You drive like a maniac and curse all the way

Apologizing, but it's normal and I hear it every day

You say you want my number, but I don't have a phone

Please tell me you have a girlfriend after all this time alone

Home is too close and so I hug you goodbye

Is it cuz I'm touching you that you say ahh and sigh

You say you'll find me later and though I don't know how

Looks like I'll just have to go and say goodbye for now
