I’m alone, but why? I say to myself, as I let the words sink in

It makes me feel like I’m not worth life, like an empty trash bin

Am I really worth a dead tree limb, or a worn out penny or two?

because that idea makes me feel, like a long lost empty shoe

Maybe when I am worth, 14 Karat gold

I might not feel so worthless, worn out and old

I’ll get a new spirit, one that comes with glee

For a new type of happiness, will ride inside me

But for now I’m me, I say in vain

As I sit by the broken window pane

I live a life of fear and sorrow

And I just hope I’ll be able to survive tomorrow
