If...
If you make me smile,
It’s your number I’d rather dial.
If it’s my number I want you dial,
I’d rather have it not take a while.
If you brighten my day,
I’d rather stay.
If you make me stay,
I’d rather say, ‘Hey’.
If you give me that rose,
I’d rather you hold me close.
If you hold me close,
I’d rather remember the moments we chose.
If you teach me how to hope,
I’d rather it be your name on that envelope.
If you make me write your name on that envelope,
I’d rather you know we have a scope.
But if you make me cry,
I’d rather lie.
And if you make me wanna lie,
I’d rather die.
If you can’t dry my eyes,
I’d rather despise.
If you make me despise,
I’d rather not live in disguise.
If you break my heart,
I’d rather just part.
If you make me want to part,
I’d rather press restart.
If we never again try,
I’d rather not see the sky.
If we never see the sky,
I’d rather know that it was our forever goodbye.
