Wish

Stars are born, stars fall.

I wish I was loved like her.

Moons orbit planets.

I wish I was beautiful like she is.

The sun shines day or night.

I wish I wasn’t so alone.

The full moon fills the sky.

I wish I didn’t have to be here every day.

Night turns into day.

I wish I the bullying would stop.

Day turns into night.

I wish they could like me.

Stars are born, stars fall.

I wish I didn’t feel so alone.

Planets full of life, planets that are empty.

I wish I knew what was wrong with me.

Stars watch over the world at night.

When will this end?

One hundred billion galaxies.

I can’t do it anymore.

One Earth.

One cut, two cut.

One America.

Three cut, Four cut.

One Nebraska.

Last cut, dead cut.

One town.

You're too late.

One me.

The universe won’t notice one less person.

The sun will always shine during the day.

The moon will always shine bright at night.

The North star can always lead your way.

The sky will stay in place.

The ground won’t fall away.

I might be gone but on Earth you’ll stay.

I’ll become a number.

A number that climbs every day.

You’ll get over it.

Because the Earth will keep turning.

The author's comments:

This piece came straight from the heart. Most people probably won't understand exactly how true this is, and that's okay. I started writing it last year when I was struggling with depression, self harm, and suicidal thoughts. But with my friends help I made it through. Just a few days ago I decided I wanted to finish writing this poem because I wanted to be able to remember what happened to me. I hope that you will select my poem. Thank you.
