Hopeless Field
Waiting, wondering, wanting to be free
Always going back no matter how hard he hits
Tears, tragedy, taunting everyday she sits
Alone in the field asking herself why
Why does she stay when she constantly has to pray
Exhausted, embarrassed, estranged
He yells her name from inside the house
She sneaks back inside as quiet as a mouse
Sits down at the table not moving a thing
Before he can touch her, there is a ring
He grabs the phone and she runs
Back to the field where she belongs
Falling to the ground, hopeless and weak
All she needed was one kiss on the cheek
Instead she got bruises and cuts
Alone in the field she sits there waiting
For someone to realize the truth of it all
Why doesn’t anyone notice her when she feels so small?
