Closure
Tell me, have you found someone new?
Does she make it easier
to block me out of your mind?
You see, I’ve never been that ignorant
To act like what we had didn’t matter
I remember what it sounds like
The noise of people falling out of love
It’s the arguments that last until 3 A.M.
It’s the angry silent car rides, so quiet we can hear the engine buzzing
It’s the tremor in your voice when you apologize so profusely
It’s the slamming of the door when you left
But there were good times, too
That’s an undeniable fact
Like when we’d walk around aimlessly
With no destination, we’d just talk and laugh
We made the world ours to explore
Together, we discovered ourselves
I know, I know
This nostalgia makes it harder to move on
But really, do you ever reminisce about the love that has passed?
Maybe you’d like to only recall the bad memories;
The times that left a scar on your heart
So that you can convince yourself there’s nothing worth missing
I’m sure that makes it easier to forget.
We’re just two people whose souls once combined
Now they have gone their separate ways
But with mine, is a piece of yours
And I hope that mine left a mark on yours, too
Maybe somewhere
They’re still running around together, chasing each other
Trying to intertwine once again.
